Bromyard & Winslow Town Council

After Bromyard received funding from the ‘Great Places to Visit’ and ‘Welcome Back’ schemes, PBS were approached by K4 Architects to produce a range of new signage for the town.  The brief was to create physical improvements to the town centre to make Bromyard more welcoming to visitors. It was also key that the new Bromyard Bushel branding was promoted throughout.

Bromyard proposed that narrow alleyways, pedestrian walkways, and street shortcuts could be made safer and more enticing to the Bromyard visitor, whilst celebrating the medieval footprint of the historic core of the town. It was decided that new signage, artists’ murals, and paving bricks would all contribute to a creative wayfinding scheme.

PBS were responsible for fabricating bespoke, architectually designed signage for this project. This included ‘You are Here’ totems, which were constructed using aluminium trays with internal mounted tray fixing posts.  The totems were then vinyl wrapped, printed with a rusty metal ‘corten steel’ effect and gloss laminated for UV protection.  The totem provide interesting facts and are in keeping with the towns history.

Fingerpost signs were created using 4 metre long aluminium posts with RAL coloured yellow toppers to match the new branding. Bespoke aluminium modular panels were then bolted on, to form the directional part of the signs.

The research for the wayfinding street directional signs and information were developed with the local community whose knowledge is far superior than any maps.  To find out more information about the project you can go to Destination Bromyard
